Sell the Budapest Card – it is worth it!

The Budapest Card

Vienna, Berlin, Heidelberg, Helsinki, Copenhagen, Oslo, Salzburg or Stockholm are just a few of the many cities of Europe where you can find city cards giving excellent discounts for tourists.

Based on this principle in 1997 the Tourism Office of Budapest created the Budapest Card, which offers a quality program package for individual tourists, making it easier for them to discover the attractions of the Hungarian capital.

The card and the booklet that comes with it is a good opportunity for museums, attractions and other service providers to introduce themselves to tourists and to attract them with special offers. The aim is to lengthen the stay of foreign tourists in Budapest and to make sure that they spend their stay here in an active way.

- Start: 1 January

- Duration: 48, or 72 hours

- Price: 6.300 HUF or 7.500 HUF

- Validity: The Budapest Card is valid for one adult and one child under the age of 14 travelling together

- Form: credit-card sized plastic card, with a photo of Budapest in the front and the signature of the owner (the card is non-transferable), the start time and date of the validity period (to be filled in by the owner), the price of the card and the card number.

- The card includes the following: a 112-page, colour brochure about the use of the card in four languages (Hungarian, English, German and Italian), which provides information about the use of the card and all service providers (with photographs, short descriptions, opening times, entry fees and the amount of the discount), as well as a 44-page insurance information booklet in Hungarian and English language.

- Services: unlimited free travel ion public transport, discounted entry to 60 museums and many attractions, other discounts for bus- and boat sightseeing tours, in restaurants, cafés and baths, for cultural ad folklore programs, for car rental and in many other places, as well as a free travel insurance.

Types of sale

Commission: Most of our partners sell the Budapest Card under a commission system, we subsequently settle the accounts with them once a month, according to the last months’ sales.

Direct sales: Some people take the “risk” of cash sales and pay for the price of the cards straight away, either by cash or with bank transfer. In this case it is important to remember that we cannot take back these cards or exchange them for those valid in the following year. The larger risk is naturally rewarded with a higher commission.

Voucher: We have created a card voucher for foreign travel agencies which tourists can exchange for Budapest Cards at the main arrival points of the capital (airports, railway stations, motorway petrol stations), as well as in the city centre and in the Buda Castle.
