After purchasing the Budapest Card you must only sign it and fill it in accordingly.
The Budapest Card gets valid if the holder has signed it and indicated the starting date of use. Please indicate the starting date (Month/Day/Hour) in the boxes on the rear side of the card. Please provide month in the first two boxes, the day in the third and fourth boxes and finally the hour (last full hour before use) in the fifth and sixth boxes. Please fill in all the six boxes and write a zero if necessary (e.g.: 06 27 14 for 27 June 14:15). Please fill in accurately, since corrected, overwritten and illegible cards can NOT be accepted! Please sign the card before first use!
Discounts
Budapest Card is valid only for its holder (signatory) and it can NOT be transferred. The discounts provided by the Budapest Card are valid for the owner and an accompanying minor up to 14 years.
Validity
Budapest Cards are available with an 48 hours and 72 hours validity.
Public Transport:
Budapest Card becomes your ticket while you travel with the Budapest public transport. When you re checked by ticket controllers, please present your Budapest Card, who will check the validity period indicated on your Budapest Card. Anyone travelling without a valid ticket or with an expired Budapest Card will be fined. Budapest Card is valid on the HÉV suburban train lines only until the municipality borders of Budapest, if you are travelling outside the city e.g. to visit the town of Szentendre, you must buy an additional ticket in advance. Accept points and discounts
Budapest Card provides discounts only at the accept points listed on this website and in the brochure. Please show your Budapest Card at the accept points prior to payment and please present it to the cashiers for checking. Please note in general, that the cashiers close in several museums already 30 minutes to one hour before the actual closing. Please always inquire on-site about details of their discounts.
Travelling and accident insurance
Budapest Card contains also travelling and accident insurance. Please find relevant information under the menu Other services.
Restaurant discounts
Budapest Card is valid in restaurants for the holder of the card and his/her guests consuming together with the holder except for the restaurants Gundel and Bagolyvár where the gift meal is provided only for the card holder and the accompanying child. Budapest Card discounts are deducted form the prices of the á la carte menu and can not be combined with other discounts (e.g. group discounts). Please present Budapest Card in advance when ordering the menu and kindly sign the invoice when the waiter requests you.
